Today we must leave Prague. As I have mentioned - I could live here. We wake up in our wonderful suite and take our time getting ready to leave. We savor the last moments.
We go downstairs to breakfast and wonder how we can live here. Breakfast is in the "basement". Excellent food, excellent atmosphere.
Off we go. We have decided that since Pilsner Urquell is on the way to Munich, we will stop for ............... yes, another brewery tour. We arrive at the brewery with no problem. Except we are an hour and a half early for a tour. What to do? Since we may never be back here we choose to wait. There is plenty to do. We walk around the outside of the brewery and take photos. Then we find the gift shop. Dang! We find out we cannot ship a barrel of beer back to the US. We buy souvenirs and head down to the restaurant. Later, we find out this is the largest restaurant area in the Czech Republic, with the capacity of holding almost 600 people.
We get something to drink (tea) and hang out. We people watch. Tours coming in. Families coming in. We look across from us and see a woman sitting alone drinking a beer. She is very content.
Time for our tour! We head across to the main building where our tour will start. Our tour guide is an extremely nice Czech girl who speaks fairly good English. Most of the time. :-)
She is very friendly and very knowledgeable and does a great job with the tour. We meet a man from London, Ontario who is on the tour by himself. We end up talking to him quite a bit and really enjoy his company. Throughout our conversation we realize the woman we saw sitting in the restaurant by herself was his wife. Amazing. The tour is fantastic and we, of course, get to sample the beer.
Next stop, Germany. Munich to be exact. Even though we only spent one night here at the very beginning of our trip (which seems like years ago), I feel like we are going back home. Back to familiar territory.
We find our hotel, different from the first one but really close to the same area. The owners are wonderful and so friendly. Our room is small but sufficient. We are happy.
We take a brief nap and head out to dinner. We decide that going back to Der Pschorr, the first restaurant we had dinner on our first night in Germany. It's familiar to us and we liked it so much that first day. Tonight, well.... the food was just as good but the service was not quite as good. I guess even in Germany, people aren't as friendly on really busy nights. Our waitress was still nice and polite, just not as friendly.
We enjoy our dinner and head back to the hotel for a good night sleep.
