Day 9 - Goodbye Europe - Going Home

July 2015

Minigan's Travels -Summer 2015

Goodbye Europe -
thanks for a great trip

Going Home.............

Such a wonderful trip!

Our last morning of croissants.

Huge thanks to Mike and Graciela.  There is no way to thank them enough for their hospitality.  They shared their home, their knowledge of the areas, they helped us with our French and they are just wonderful people!  Merc Beaucoup Mes Amis!  Can't wait to see  you both again!

Graciela has a class to attend so we say our goodbyes and merci's to her.  We finish our packing and Mike takes us to the Geneva airport.

We get through security and head to our gate.

Geneva to Frankfurt to Chicago to St. Louis.

Geneva to Frankfurt is an easy flight.  No problems whatsoever.  We take photos as we are landing in Germany.  None of us have ever been in Germany so at least now we will be able to say we have set foot in Frankfort.

We mosey around the airport........ they have a much better selection of books than the US.
We begin looking for a restaurant that sells hot dogs ..... Frankfurter's to be exact!  We cannot find any!  And then somehow we realize we need to get to our gate!  We find one place in our area that has frankfurters........ and it's closed!    Guess we'll have to go back sometime.

We board and get settled.  The flight is over 8 1/2 hours.  We watch movies.  We try to sleep.  We eat.  Finally, we get to Chicago.   Our flight has been delayed a little.  Then our flight is delayed again.  Around 11:00 our flight is cancelled.

The ending of our trip goes as follows:
No flights for us until the following evening.
Hotel is not covered because the cancellation was due to weather. (act of God)
we have no luggage which means no change of clothes.

We rent a car, get a hotel and sleep for a few hours and DRIVE from Chicago to St. Louis.
We have hit exhaustion, but who cares?!   NOT US - WE WERE IN EUROPE.

Goodnight everyone!
