Minigan's Travels -Summer 2015
Bonjour to Paris and Geneva!
Day 8 - Our final day spent in Annecy.....
Another beautiful morning with a breakfast of croissants. Plans for our last day (I do NOT enjoy saying that) were to walk to the market and then everyone drive to Annecy. The market is amazing and so much fun. The colors, the people, the languages, the food!
Jim buys tea from one of the vendors and I buy spices from another. He hardly speaks English but we both laugh and manage to get the order correct. He is very friendly and smiles a lot . Mike introduces us to a friend of his that makes and sells his own wine. Of course, we buy wine.
Paella - OH MY GOSH! I have never had this dish but plan to make it this winter. It looked soooo good and smelled soooo good. I told the gentleman making it that it was beautiful and asked if I cold take a photo. Hopefully he understood what I was saying because he smiled and nodded his head yes. I took the photo and told him merci.
Yet one more reason to go back to France.
Mike reminds us that we need to get going so we can head out to Annecy. We gather our goods and head back home.
Time to head out for our final adventure with Mike and Graciela.
Annecy is a commune in the southeast region of France. It was a settlement formed in Roman times. It sits on the northern tip of Lake Annecy. It is surrounded by majestic mountains. It is beautiful!
This is all I know about Annecy for now and this is all I need to know. The beauty speaks for itself.
We choose to eat not long after we arrive which is a good choice. It rains for a bit. We are sitting outside undercover though so life is good! I have the largest pot of mussels I have ever seen. Scrumptious!
We walk around town, we walk around Lake Annecy. It is now officially Fete Nationale Suisse so everything is crowded..... but still beautiful. We speak to so many wonderful people.
We leaned that for bridal showers, the bride is dressed up in a manner to embarrass her. We ran into a bridal party where the bride was dressed up as a sumo wrestler. Quite funny. She was up dancing with people and having a great time.
We (actually Graciela) spoke to a group of three ladies ( probably in their 70s) that were out partying. One of the first things they asked was if Jaimey had a boyfriend. Apparently one of them had a single grandson!
The photos really speak for themselves so below are some of the pictures of the town and the lake.
We passed this little deli selling Raclette.
Official definition: Swiss dish based on heating the cheese and scraping off (racler) the melted part. They put this on bread with ham and you walk around taking bites of it. this is said to be especially good during chilly weather.

After falling in love with this town, we finally had to go. So honored to have visited!
We went back to Mike and Graciela's and had a wonderful evening. Graciela made fajitas and we drank some of the wine we had purchased. Mike put a Steve Martin movie in that we watched (as laughed) while we were all exchanging photos.
We said our goodnight's and looked forward to another good night sleep.
Bonne Nuit!
