Wild Horses.........

Well, it's been a while since I have blogged about anything.  I've been crazy busy at home and at work.  However, last weekend I managed to get away and relax.

Jim, Jaimey and I went to Round Spring Campground and well, we camped.

Great weekend filled with many, many adventures.  Jim and Jaimey went floating... I went hiking.... we all went exploring.

One of the coolest things that happened though, was the night we arrived at the campground.  We didn't get out of St. Louis until around 5:00 so by the time we got to our campground it was dark.
As we cross the bridge that goes over the Current River, we all begin to look for the turn that will take us to our campground.  We all see it at the same time...... Round Springs Campground - Turn Left.

We turn in and slowly make our way to the entrance of the campground.  There are a couple turns and a couple signs.....  Cave this way,..... Spring this way........

As we are watching the signs and trying to figure out which way to go, we see three beautiful horses!  They are just walking down the road as if they are just out for an evening stroll.  Jim says, "oh my gosh, those are the Missouri wild horses"  (he may have used a couple different words, but you get the idea.) There are three of them and they are extremely calm and just casually walking down the road. We all frantically try to get cameras, phones, whatever.  By the time we are ready to take a photo, all we get is a  photo of the behinds.  Oh well.  At least we got to see them.

Jim seems to know a lot about the horses, I do not.  Throughout the weekend I talk to people in the area and tell them about our siting.  No one is surprised.  The rangers tell me that they were probably on their way over to the next campground.... Echo Bluff.

I do a little research once I get home (we had no internet or cell service while we were there) and find out a little more about the horses.  Quite a story!

If you would like to read a little history on these beautiful creatures you can check out this link.  This is one of many stories on the horses but I just happened to like this one.

Hope you enjoy and hope that you all get to see them sometime if you haven't already!
