LANIGAN'S TRAVELS

June...........

Back to Dublin, Ireland  - Day 7 in Ireland

Waking up on Day 7 was nice.  Looking out at the ocean, I was thinking of the past week and how much we had done.  Now we had the drive back to Dublin for our last day of exploring.  What to do?

The drive was short and sweet.  The scenery beautiful.  We chose to go to the Wicklow Mountains just a little South of Dublin.  The exits were a bit of a mystery so we ended up on a short little detour but eventually found the right road.  We drove into the small quaint town of Glendalough prior to actually being in the mountains. Very, very pretty but very touristy.

From there we went up!  The mountains are massive.  Such beauty.  We drove from one end to the other of The Wicklow Pass.  It ended up raining and the wind was unbelievable so most of the photos are from inside the car.  We got out a couple times but basically enjoyed the views from inside the car.

This road is MAYBE wide enough for a car and a half.
And yes, we did meet a car coming at us.

After we left the mountains we drove around the area just north of the mountains.  We took a side road that was a typical Ireland road.  Which at this point, we were getting used to it though.  It was fun just driving around and enjoying the scenery but we finally decide to turn back around and head back to Dublin.

Back in Dublin, we checked in to our hotel (the same place we stayed when we first arrived in Dublin) and decided to just hang out at the hotel for the evening.  We had to get up early in the morning to get to the airport and still had to repack everything.  Once we had all the repacking done, we went downstairs to the bar to relax.  And let Jim talk to the waiter about the best Whiskey.  And the best Scotch.  Of course, he had Jim sample some..... and of course Jim then ordered some.

The waiter actually had his manager go to the "cellar" to see if they had any more Connemara.  They had a bottle and Jim got a glass. Our waiter was extremely friendly.  From Poland.  Told us all about how he came to Ireland. How he met his girlfriend.  How much he loves Ireland and the people.

Super night except we knew in the morning we had to go back to the US.

IRELAND, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU SHARED WITH US!  WE WILL BE BACK!
